A Network Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting an organization’s network infrastructure. The role involves working with LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools to ensure reliable and secure connectivity.
Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain network devices such as routers and switches.
- Monitor network performance, availability, and connectivity.
- Troubleshoot network-related issues and outages.
- Support LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless network infrastructure.
- Configure and manage basic network security settings.
- Identify and resolve connectivity and performance problems.
- Perform network testing and troubleshooting using appropriate tools.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
- Assist with network upgrades, migrations, and installations.
- Monitor network traffic and identify unusual activities.
- Coordinate with IT support and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents.
- Follow network security policies and company procedures.
- Support backup and recovery of network configurations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Networking fundamentals.
- TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS.
- LAN/WAN concepts.
- Routers and switches.
- VPN and firewall fundamentals.
- Basic network security.
- Troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Linux/Windows networking basics.
- Network monitoring tools.
- Basic knowledge of Cisco technologies is an advantage.
- Good communication and teamwork.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
